While walking from stage to stage at Pitch Festival, enjoying music, dancing and drinking in the sun, suddenly my friend and I went into a dark building to see who’s on stage there. Well, it’s Jack Garratt. His music and performance totally captured us. We want more!
Later this year, the talented 24-year old musician performed for a packed Melkweg with all his instruments at close range: a drum pad, keyboard and guitars. The EP Remnants and album Phase of this London-based singer/ songwriter is a mix of electro dance pop with a hint of melancholy. My favourites “Weathered” and “The Love That You’re Given” sound so good live.
This multi instrumentalist is really in his element, on stage, any stage, simply a wunderkind. Awarded with a British choice award and 2016 Critics’ choice award, it will be very interesting how his second album will sound like. So what is a Jack Garratt? Just go and find out.
